That countdown interrupts your brains freeze response and kicks your prefrontal cortex into gear. The big insight is that motivation does not come first. Action comes first. You move and then the motivation shows up. Try the 2 minute rule too. If something takes less than 2 minutes do it immediately. That small win builds momentum.
